Modern storage heaters are incredibly clever and operate by storing thermal energy. Inside units are ceramic bricks, which heat up during the night when electricity rates are low and release during the day when rates peak. Due to the technology now incorporated into heaters, they feature components such as programmable heating schedules, Wi-Fi remote controls and thermostatic controls for particular rooms. Call us now for yours!!
As the installation of storage heaters requires rewiring of the home, the task must be completed by a qualified electrician. EEM will take into consideration your property type, electricity rates and the heater type you have in mind before scheduling a date for the project to be completed. Both manual storage heaters, along with automatic combination heaters, are available. While manual heaters are cheaper, they continue running unless you turn them off. Automated alternatives, on the other hand, combine a storage heater with an electric convection heater for more control.
Facilities Managers are increasingly expected to manage tight budgets but EEM can demonstrate how investment in modern electrical equipment can show real savings in energy costs. Installing highly energy-efficient lighting improves the working environment as the new light fittings are brighter than the ones they have replaced. They are cheaper to run and the maintenance savings are considerable. Call us now !!
You can currently apply for a grant through the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS), which offers up to £350 for electrical car charger installations for your home. The Draft Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (Amendment) Regulations 2022 was laid before Parliament on 11th May 2022. Once approved, it will come into force on 1st October 2022.
Previous regulations stated that all properties must have a smoke alarm and CO2 alarm (if gas) at the start of the tenancy. It has been the landlord's responsibility to check they are working prior to the new tenancy, leaving the tenant responsible for maintaining them, but this is about to change.
New regulations state all rented properties in England must provide a carbon monoxide alarm in rooms where there is any fixed combustion application, such as gas boilers, from 1st October 2022.
Previously this requirement only applied to solid fuel combustion appliances, such as wood burners. However, they have now been extended to gas cookers.
Under the Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (Amendment) Regulations 2022, all private and social housing landlords must ensure a smoke alarm is fitted on every floor of their property where there is a room used wholly or partly as living accommodation.
From 1st October, when a tenant, or tenant's nominated representative, finds and reports that an alarm may not work properly, the alarm must be repaired or replaced by the landlord as soon as possible.
The regulations only oblige landlords to check the alarms are working on the first day of a new tenancy. Alarms should be tested before a tenancy begins to avoid any impact.
Landlords are advised to begin installing and repairing existing alarms to avoid breaching new regulations.
Please let us know if you have any questions or how we can help during this transition.

International Youth Day on 12th August focuses on the difficulties that some young people are experiencing throughout the world. Half the children between the age of six and 13 lack basic reading and math skills and childhood poverty is still a prevalent problem globally. International Youth Day was created by the UN to help draw awareness to these issues as we strive to find solutions. It’s a day for reflection but also a day for taking action so get involved. There’ll be many concerts, workshops and cultural events taking place so have a look at what is happening in your local area.
It’s an initiative that honors the traits of young people and that acknowledges the challenges that today’s fledging youth face. To support the elimination of these issues it is important that the youth is able to reach the right resources for education, wellbeing, medicine and more.
International Youth Day began in 2000 and was organized by the UN to recognize the input that young people make in education, community development, environmental groups, volunteering for different social projects.

What will an EICR tell me?
An EICR will provide a full summary of the condition of the electrics in your home and determine whether it complies with the current British Standard for electrical safety (BS 7671).
It will record a number of observations in line with BS 7671 and make various recommendations where improvement may be necessary or beneficial to improving safety in your home.
Once the EICR is completed the registered contractor will provide you with a certificate outlining the overall condition of the electrical installation.
Changes to the Law
THE ELECTRICAL SAFETY STANDARDS IN THE PRIVATERENTED SECTOR (ENGLAND) REGULATIONS 2020
The Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) has introduced legislation for landlords in England to make it a mandatory requirement to have electrical safety checks carried out in their properties. These electrical safety checks are to be carried out at intervals of no more than 5 years by a qualified and competent person.
This new legislation comes into force on 1st June 2020 for Landlords in England for electrical safety checks to be completed on their properties following the timeline below-
(a)all new specified tenancies from 1st July 2020;and
(b) all existing specified tenancies from 1st April 2021.
Where the Regulations apply;
private landlords must ensure that certain electrical safety standards are met whenever property is let under a tenancy agreement.
landlords will have a duty to ensure that a qualified person inspects every fixed electrical installation at least every 5 years and produces a report to the landlord. The landlord must supply a copy of the report to the tenant within 28 days of the inspection.
if any remedial work is required then there is an obligation on the landlord to carry out the work within 28 days or sooner, if so indicated within the report.

When working with EEM to install your EV charger, our engineers will complete a free survey of your property to establish the best option for you. From here, the team will arrange a time and day to install your EV charger, minimising disturbance and maximising efficiency.
Types of electrical vehicle charging points
When installing your EV charger, it is first important to familiarise yourself with the types of charging points, as this can help to determine which charger to install based on how often you use your car. For example, a rapid or SuperCharger is ideal for those who travel to and from home throughout the day as they can charge a vehicle up to 80% in just 20 minutes. However, the two most popular charging points for homeowners are fast and slow chargers, as these are the best solutions to conserve energy. In contrast to a rapid charger, a slow charger can take anywhere between 6 and 12 hours to charge, making it more suited for overnight charging. If you are unsure which charger is best for your home and use, our team can help during your home survey.
